What we collect
- Account details: name, email address, password (stored only as an Argon2id hash), and optionally phone number and city.
- Date of birth: to check whether a parent or guardian's consent is needed.
- Parent or guardian details for students under 18: name, email and relationship, and a record of their consent.
- Security information: sign-in times, IP address and device type, kept to protect your account and as required by CERT-In directions.
- Your consent choices and privacy requests.
Why we use it
To create and secure your account, to provide study-abroad counselling you ask for, to meet legal obligations, and, only if you opt in and are 18 or older, to send you updates. We do not sell personal data and we do not show targeted advertising.
Students under 18
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we need verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before processing a child's personal data. Until it is given, the account stays limited. We never send marketing to, track or profile students under 18.
Who we share it with
Service providers who help us run MILEPATH (hosting in India by Hostinger; email delivery once connected), under contracts that protect your data. Universities receive your information only when you approve an application. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted or anonymised after you ask us to delete it, unless the law requires us to keep a record (for example tax records of payments). Security logs are kept for at least 180 days.
Your rights
You can access, correct, download and delete your data, withdraw consent, and raise a grievance from My account → Your data and privacy. We respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
